$5 from each set goes directly towards promising breast cancer research. Linda Krag, owner of the Denise company, is a 2-time breast cancer survivor, and happens to know personally one of the premier researchers in the breast cancer research field. His work is made possible by "the S.D. Ireland Cancer Research Fund, which is very unusual in that it pays all its own administrative costs, funneling all donated monies directly into research.... $5 of your purchase price goes, one hundred percent, to research through the S.D. Ireland Fund."
The shortest cable length (17" from needle tip to tip) is fluid and a pleasure to knit with, which is generally unheard of in needle sets. The shortest lengths of other sets start at 20", and yet still tend to be stiffer and harder on the hands than the Denise set. Since the 17" length is such a convenient size to use (great for hats!), it makes the Denise set really stand out in versatility and knitting comfort.
Denise needles are made from resin. In terms of smoothness when knitting, they are not as smooth as metal needles, which is the main reason one might consider a metal-tipped set. On the other hand, they're still quite smooth (in fact smoother than bamboo needles), and they won't have the ice-cold feel of metal when the weather is cool.
It is a set of needles with a range of needle sizes and lengths. A kit contains "needle tips" in various sizes. A pair of tips is attached to either end of a cable, to create the most versatile type of needle there is: a "circular" knitting needle. You can use the needle for circular knitting, regular flat knitting, and even for small-diameter circular knitting, although you may prefer to purchase double pointed needles (DPN's) for that.
Kits like this are a money saver from buying individual needle sizes. There are 10 tip sizes, but since you need different length cable needles for various circular projects, this kit actually replaces more than 40 different circular needle sizes...for a fraction of the cost. But above all, a kit is a convenient, portable way to always have the needle size you need on hand! Highly recommended, I do most of my knitting on my set. (Okay, sets...I own more than one!)

Great product. I really like the plastic needles. They are very smooth and don't snag on the yarn. I also like the substantial cables. The different sizes will cover most of my knitting needs. I would only make one suggestion and that is to include a 16" cable since many hats/caps kitted in the round call for that size cable.

Once I received my Pink Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles, I ran to my yarn stash to try them out. They are wonderful; exactly as described! I have been a die-hard bamboo needle fan, but you have converted me. The needles are much smoother than my bamboo needles, but not slippery (my main complaint about metal needles). The cables are flexible, much more so than what I was using. I was concerned about the connections, but they turned out to be superior to my fixed cables, which sometimes caught at the needle joint. Knitting is so easy with these - "Like butter!" as I told my husband. I have been knitting like a fiend! You have made a believer out of me!

I use my Denise needle set for just about any project. The only time I don't use them is if the project requires smaller than a 5. The transition from cord to needle is nice and smooth whereas some other brands of circulars catch the yarn as you transition. I recently bought another set just to have a spare, and I also bought a set for my sister. I told her she would never have to buy another size needle! (Unless a smaller than I'm the set). It's nice to have the second set because occasionally I put down one project to start another and might use the same size. I even use them for projects not requiring only straight needles. I wish they would make a set with smaller needle sizes.
